Genesee County Officials Outline Security for November Midterm Elections

Genesee County election officials and law enforcement met in Flint, Michigan, on Thursday to establish security and transparency protocols for the November 3 midterm elections. Domonique Clemons, the Genesee County Clerk and Register of Deeds, announced that mail-in ballots began being issued statewide on Thursday, marking the start of the 40-day window before the election.

Clemons addressed common misinformation regarding ballot distribution, explaining that while third-party organizations might send voters multiple applications, the county will only issue one official ballot per person. To ensure the integrity of the vote, she highlighted the use of domestic paper ballots and the role of the bipartisan Genesee County Board of Canvassers in the certification process.

Complementing these administrative measures, Genesee County Sheriff Chris Swanson confirmed that law enforcement has developed a coordinated plan with election officials. This strategy is designed to protect voters, election workers, and polling locations on election day.
