JBS and Danantara Form $2.5 Billion Protein Joint Venture

JBS NV and Indonesia's Danantara sovereign wealth fund formed a joint venture to expand protein operations across Southeast Asia, Australia, and New Zealand.

JBS NV and the Indonesian sovereign wealth fund Danantara have agreed to form a joint venture to expand protein market operations across Southeast Asia, Australia, and New Zealand. Under the terms of the agreement, Danantara will invest $2.5 billion to acquire a 25% stake in the new entity. This joint venture will hold full equity ownership of the existing JBS operations in Australia and New Zealand.

The investment will be executed in two phases. Danantara will provide an initial commitment of $800 million for a 9.6% share, with the remaining funds scheduled for delivery within three years.

The partnership provides a strategic entry point for JBS into the Southeast Asian market, where the company currently operates no meatpacking facilities.
