INDIA Bloc Demands Probe Into Ayodhya Temple Donation Scam

The INDIA bloc opposition plans to challenge the Indian government in Parliament over alleged embezzlement of donations at the Ayodhya Ram Temple.

The INDIA bloc of opposition parties reached a consensus on July 29, 2026, to demand a parliamentary discussion regarding the alleged embezzlement of donations at the Ayodhya Ram Temple. Driven by the Samajwadi Party, the opposition intends to raise the issue in the Lok Sabha on July 30. In a coordinated effort, Samajwadi Party MPs staged a protest at the Makar Dwar in the Parliament House complex, using donation boxes and placards to accuse the government of shielding the architects of the scam.

Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav linked the alleged diversion of temple funds to the government's failure to prevent examination paper leaks, arguing that those who fail to protect religious offerings cannot be trusted to protect the future of youth. Meanwhile, the Congress party is coordinating with the bloc to target Union Home Minister Amit Shah over police actions against protesting students on July 20.

While the Lok Sabha addresses the scam, the Rajya Sabha is expected to discuss the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026.
