India Subsidizes 88,209 Electric Vehicles in Madhya Pradesh

The Ministry of Heavy Industries reported that 88,209 electric vehicles received subsidies in Madhya Pradesh during the 2025-26 financial year under the PM E-DRIVE scheme.

The Ministry of Heavy Industries reported that 88,209 electric vehicles were subsidized in Madhya Pradesh during the 2025-26 financial year. This figure comes from a total of 94,277 electric vehicles deployed across the state during the same period. However, the ministry noted that no electric buses were allocated to Madhya Pradesh under the program.

These subsidies are part of the PM E-DRIVE scheme, which the government notified in September 2024 with a budget of Rs 10,900 crore. The national program aims to subsidize approximately 28.30 lakh electric vehicles and establish public charging infrastructure. The ministry clarified that it does not centrally maintain records of the specific demand incentives disbursed to original equipment manufacturers or vehicle purchasers within the state.

The initiative follows previous central government efforts to promote clean energy transport, including the FAME-II scheme and various Production Linked Incentive schemes for battery storage and automotive technology. Additionally, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways introduced permit exemptions and green license plates to further reduce the cost of electric vehicle ownership.
