Microchip Technology Launches Full-Stack Edge AI Solutions
Microchip Technology introduced full-stack edge AI solutions for its microcontrollers and microprocessors to enable real-time inferencing and reduce cloud dependency.
Microchip Technology launched a suite of full-stack edge AI solutions on February 10, 2026, designed to move machine learning models from the cloud directly to hardware. These solutions integrate silicon, software, and development tools to enable real-time decision-making across industrial, automotive, data center, and consumer IoT networks.
The portfolio utilizes microcontrollers (MCUs) and microprocessors (MPUs) and includes pre-trained models for specific applications, such as predictive maintenance, electrical arc fault detection, keyword spotting, and facial recognition with liveness detection. To support developers, the company is providing the MPLAB X IDE with a specialized ML Development Suite plug-in and the VectorBlox Accelerator SDK 2.0 for FPGAs.
Mark Reiten, Corporate Vice President of Microchip’s Edge AI business unit, stated that AI at the edge has transitioned from being experimental to an expected requirement. This initiative aligns with industry trends identified by IoT Analytics, which noted that embedding AI capabilities into MCUs reduces latency, enhances data privacy, and lowers dependence on cloud infrastructure.
