Mumbai Prime Residential Prices Grow 6.2 Percent Year-on-Year
Mumbai ranked eighth globally in the Knight Frank Prime Global Cities Index after prime residential prices grew 6.2 percent in the second quarter of 2026.
Mumbai ranked eighth globally in the second quarter of 2026 according to the Prime Global Cities Index published by Knight Frank. Prime residential prices in the city increased 6.2 percent year-on-year, a growth rate more than double the global average of 2.6 percent recorded across 46 tracked cities.
Other Indian cities also appeared in the top 20, with Bengaluru ranking 12th with 4.5 percent growth and New Delhi ranking 17th with 3.9 percent growth. Tokyo led the global rankings with a 50.7 percent annual price increase, followed by Manila, Dubai, and Singapore. While 32 cities saw growth, others including London, Toronto, and Beijing experienced price declines.
Knight Frank attributes the performance in Mumbai to limited supply and strong demand for high-quality, differentiated residential offerings. The consultancy links these prime assets to long-term wealth creation.
