Pakistan and Türkiye reaffirmed their strategic defense ties through a commemorative military ceremony in Rawalpindi and high-level ministerial talks in Istanbul.

The Government of Pakistan and the Government of Türkiye reaffirmed their commitment to strategic and defense partnerships through simultaneous diplomatic and military events on August 31, 2026.

In Istanbul, Pakistan Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif and Turkish Defense Minister Yasar Güler met to expand cooperation in the defense sector and address regional security. This meeting included Turkish Chief of the General Staff Selçuk Bayraktaroğlu and served as a precursor to the first session of the Strategic Political and Defense Committee. This trilateral body, established under the Makkah Joint Defense Agreement, coordinates strategic matters between Pakistan, Türkiye, and Saudi Arabia.

Concurrently, the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi hosted a ceremony commemorating the 104th anniversary of the Turkish Armed Forces Victory Day. Turkish Ambassador to Pakistan Irfan Naziroğlu attended as the chief guest, where military officers and embassy officials paid tribute to the Turkish Armed Forces. The event highlighted the enduring bilateral bonds and the shared commitment to strengthening the defense partnership between the two nations.
