Major Corporations Report First Tangible Financial Returns from AI

Global firms in banking, pharma, and tech report the first measurable profit gains from AI investments during the 2026 third-quarter earnings season.

Major corporations across the banking, pharmaceutical, and technology sectors are reporting the first tangible financial returns from artificial intelligence investments during the third-quarter earnings season of 2026. This shift follows a massive surge in corporate AI spending, which reached 581.7 billion dollars in 2025.

Santander Group reported that AI initiatives generated 194 million euros in business value during the first nine months of the year. Similarly, Standard Chartered noted that AI tools improved core processes and increased operating leverage. In the pharmaceutical sector, Novartis reported tangible improvements to its profit and loss statement, specifically citing gains in marketing and sales.

Technology firms saw significant revenue growth. Meta reported substantial incremental advertising revenue driven by AI, while Alphabet Inc. saw Google Cloud revenue more than double to nearly 31 billion dollars. However, the impact remains uneven across industries; Carlsberg Group stated that while AI has improved its supply chain and internal processes, the financial benefits are not yet at scale.
