UN Increases Green Development Investment in Azerbaijan Fivefold
The United Nations is expanding investments in Azerbaijan's climate resilience and green development through a new cooperation framework running from 2026 to 2030.
The United Nations is prioritizing green development and climate resilience in Azerbaijan, increasing planned investments in these sectors fivefold compared to the 2021-2025 framework. This expansion was announced during the 9th Sustainable Development Goals Dialogue in Baku.
The initiative is guided by the Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework signed with the Government of Azerbaijan for 2026-2030. The partnership aims to ensure that by 2030, the Azerbaijani population benefits from a just transition, strengthened ecosystems, and enhanced climate resilience.
UN Resident Coordinator Dmytro Shlapachenko stated that achieving these national climate ambitions requires strong partnerships between the government and various stakeholders to translate commitments into practical results. He noted that no single institution or sector can deliver this transition alone.
