Rajnath Singh Warns Pakistan During 27th Kargil Vijay Diwas

Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh visited Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh on July 25 and 26, 2026, to commemorate the 27th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas. During events at the Kargil War Memorial in Drass, including Shaurya Sandhya and Shaurya Bhoj, Singh honored the 545 personnel who died during Operation Vijay in 1999.

Singh issued a stern warning to Pakistan, stating that any misadventure would invite a response beyond their imagination. He ruled out bilateral talks with Islamabad, asserting that any future discussions would only concern Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, which he described as an integral part of India under illegal occupation. He contrasted India's pursuit of innovation and self-reliance with Pakistan's alleged state policy of promoting terrorism and proxy wars, claiming the distinction between the Pakistani military and militants has disappeared.

Throughout his visit, Singh affirmed that the Indian Army is fully prepared for current security challenges and infiltration threats. He emphasized that the government possesses the political will to grant the armed forces freedom to take decisive action. Singh also highlighted a commitment to defense modernization and equipment upgrades to ensure the military remains among the world's leading forces. His itinerary included discussions with Lieutenant-Governor Manoj Sinha regarding recent security incidents in Jammu & Kashmir.
