Bitcoin Drops to $64,000 After Record High of $126,000

Bitcoin has declined to approximately $64,000 from an October 2025 peak following steady interest rates and legislative stalls in the United States.

Bitcoin prices have fallen to approximately $64,000 by August 2026, marking a significant decline from a record high of over $126,000 reached in October 2025. This downward trend follows a period of aggressive growth fueled by the United States Securities and Exchange Commission's approval of spot ETFs in January 2024 and the mining halving in April 2024.

Bitcoin previously benefited from the Trump Administration's crypto-friendly policies and Federal Reserve rate cuts. However, the current decline is attributed to the Federal Reserve maintaining steady interest rates in response to renewed inflation. Further downward pressure came from the stalling of the CLARITY Act in the Senate.

Future recovery depends on several catalysts, including the potential passage of the CLARITY Act, a return to monetary easing by the Federal Reserve, and the anticipated mining halving in 2028.
