Russia Launches Massive Air Strike Against Ukrainian Energy Infrastructure

Russian forces deployed 39 missiles and 128 drones in a combined air attack targeting energy facilities in Kyiv and the Kharkiv region.

The Military of Russia launched a massive combined air attack against Ukraine overnight on October 14, deploying 39 missiles and 128 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). The strike primarily targeted energy infrastructure facilities in Kyiv, the Kyiv region, and the Kharkiv region.

The Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that the Russian arsenal included Zircon, Oniks, S-400, KN-23, and Iskander-M missiles, as well as Shahed strike drones and various decoy models. Ukrainian air defense systems, supported by electronic warfare and mobile fire groups, shot down or suppressed 115 drones—including 59 jet-powered UAVs—and four missiles.

Preliminary data indicates that the attack resulted in impacts at 22 locations and falling debris at eight others, although some missiles failed to reach their intended targets. The Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine stated that the enemy launched the strike using missiles approaching targets on a ballistic trajectory.
