QatarEnergy Secures Long-Term LNG Deals With US Firms
QatarEnergy agreed to purchase millions of tons of liquefied natural gas annually from Woodside Energy and Cheniere Energy to diversify its energy sources.
QatarEnergy agreed to purchase 3 million tons of liquefied natural gas annually from Woodside Energy Group Ltd. in a contract spanning two decades. The fuel will be sourced from the Louisiana LNG project, which is scheduled for completion by 2029.
This agreement follows a separate contract signed between the Qatari state firm and Cheniere Energy Inc. Under that deal, QatarEnergy will purchase 4 million tons of LNG per year starting in the early 2030s and continuing through 2054.
QatarEnergy stated it is now the top buyer of American fuel. The company is pursuing these agreements as part of a broader strategy to diversify its energy sources away from the Middle East.
