Florida Republicans Endorse Ryan Elijah Against Incumbent Cory Mills

Representatives Anna Paulina Luna and Mike Haridopolos have endorsed Ryan Elijah, a former Fox News anchor, in the Republican primary for Florida's Seventh Congressional District. The move comes as incumbent Representative Cory Mills faces allegations of assault that triggered a police investigation in Washington, D.C., a protective order from a former girlfriend, and an ongoing probe by the House Ethics Committee.

During a debate hosted by the Volusia County Republican Party, Mills defended his record and emphasized his alignment with Donald Trump, who continues to endorse him. In contrast, Elijah and fellow challenger Michael Don Johnson focused on the legal and ethical challenges facing the incumbent. Mills has denied any wrongdoing, stating he has never been charged with a crime or misdemeanor.

Luna and Haridopolos argue that the controversies surrounding Mills make the seat vulnerable to Democrats in the November midterms. They contend that the party needs leadership characterized by integrity and commitment to constituents. The primary election is scheduled for August 18.
