Lori Lococo Enters Niagara Falls Mayoral Race

The mayoral race in Niagara Falls has shifted following the late decision by Lori Lococo to run for the city's highest office. Her entry prompted Gary Baker and Frank De Luca to withdraw their mayoral bids and instead run for city council seats to avoid splitting the anti-incumbent vote.

These strategic moves aim to consolidate support against the four-term incumbent, Jim Diodati, who is seeking a fifth and final term. Despite the withdrawals, the race remains crowded with five candidates: Diodati, Lococo, Kevin Martineau, Paul Manning, and Michael Lucid.

Reactions to the consolidation efforts have been mixed. Paul Manning criticized the withdrawals as "political manoeuvring," while Kevin Martineau stated that he would not drop out because he believes the public wants a change from the current administration. The municipal election is scheduled for October 26.
