National Highways Schedules Extensive Road Closures Across South-West England

National Highways is executing a wide-scale maintenance program across south-west England, involving sequential overnight closures on major motorways and A-roads. In Dorset, the agency will conclude road closures between Bridport and Dorchester on August 8, marking the end of a resurfacing program that began July 19. Starting August 10 through August 15, the project shifts to the Dorchester Bypass, which will be closed in both directions on weeknights from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Simultaneously, the agency has scheduled overnight works on the M5 motorway from August 6 to August 7. These closures include northbound sections between junctions 24 and 23 for resurfacing, junctions 16 and 14 for road marking renewal, and junction 30 for reconstruction. The M5 northbound entry slip road at junction 9 is also closed.

Additional regional works affect the M48 Severn Bridge between junctions 1 and 2 and the A30 in Cornwall, specifically at the Scorrier exit and between Tolvaddon and Treswithian. Most M5 closures are scheduled between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m., with traffic diverted through the A38 and A39.
