Jon Ossoff Attacks Mike Collins at Atlanta Campaign Rally

U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff held a campaign rally in Midtown Atlanta on Sunday, August 17, 2026, as he seeks reelection against Republican U.S. Representative Mike Collins. With the November 3 general election less than 80 days away, Ossoff focused his address on the rising cost of living, health care costs, and the expansion of Medicaid in Georgia.

During the event, Ossoff characterized Collins as a "Trump-puppet" and attacked his positions on tariffs and health care. Ossoff also targeted recent comments Collins made in Savannah regarding government liability and compensation for individuals who claim they were wrongfully targeted by the federal government following the January 6, 2021, Capitol attack.

In response to the criticism, Collins stated that the federal government has a liability when it harms citizens. His spokesperson, Meyer Siegfried, clarified that while Collins supports holding government agencies accountable for abuses of power, he does not support a blank-check fund or automatic taxpayer-funded payouts to those prosecuted for the January 6 events.
