BMW India Launches X1 Long Wheelbase Luxury SUV

BMW Group India launched the X1 long wheelbase (LWB) luxury SUV on August 21, 2026, with a starting price of ₹49.90 lakh. Produced at the company's Chennai plant, the vehicle is available with a 1.5-litre 3-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that delivers 156 hp and 230 Nm of torque. The engine is compatible with up to 25 per cent ethanol-blended petrol.

The X1 LWB features a 2,800 mm wheelbase, extending the standard model by 108 mm to provide increased rear legroom. The company also implemented revised suspension tuning to improve passenger comfort.

Alongside the SUV launch, the company unveiled the i5 long wheelbase, an all-electric sedan with an approximate range of 669 km. Bookings for the i5 are now open, with deliveries scheduled to begin within three weeks.
