NSE Institutional Shareholders Retain Majority Stakes After IPO
Institutional shareholders of the National Stock Exchange retained most of their holdings after the exchange closed its initial public offering on Monday.
Large institutional shareholders of the National Stock Exchange maintained the majority of their positions following the closure of the exchange's initial public offering on Monday. The IPO was structured entirely as an offer for sale, resulting in selling shareholders reducing their collective stake from 36.82 per cent to 31.71 per cent.
The selling group comprised 11 domestic institutions, including public sector entities and ICICI Lombard General Insurance, and nine foreign institutional investors. On average, these shareholders reduced their holdings by approximately 7 per cent, suggesting a strategy of partial monetization while preserving long-term exposure to the exchange.
Individual divestment levels varied significantly across the group. CPP Investments tendered approximately 30 per cent of its holding, and MS Strategic (Mauritius) Limited also sold a significant portion. In contrast, Aranda Investment (Mauritius) Pte Ltd offered shares equivalent to 0.45 per cent of equity, and StockHolding Corporation of India Limited tendered approximately 6 per cent of its holding.
