Azerbaijan and Switzerland Discuss Peace and Landmine Clearance

Azerbaijan Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with Ignazio Cassis, the Swiss Federal Councillor and OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, during an official visit to Azerbaijan on August 4, 2026. The ministers focused on expanding economic cooperation between the two nations, citing the activities of SOCAR Energy in Switzerland as a model for bilateral partnership.

Bayramov addressed the normalization process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, highlighting the efficiency of the bilateral format and the existing state of de facto peace. He specifically requested practical support from the OSCE to manage the humanitarian crisis caused by landmine contamination in Azerbaijani territories.

The officials also reviewed the OSCE priorities under Swiss leadership, which include digital security, energy, and water resource management.
