Iran Warns U.S. of Retaliation Over Potential Strike
The Government of Iran warned the United States that any military attack would be met with retaliation and denied entering new nuclear negotiations.
The Government of Iran warned on Tuesday that any military attack by the United States would be met with retaliation. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei dismissed claims that Washington expected Tehran to refrain from responding to a potential strike, specifically referencing reports of a possible U.S. operation at Pickaxe Mountain. Baqaei characterized the notion that the U.S. could attack without consequences as an "illusion."
Baqaei denied that Iran has entered nuclear negotiations with the U.S., though he stated that Tehran remains open to diplomacy if it can prevent an escalation of tensions.
On the regional front, Iran formally opposed a resolution by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in Baghdad. The resolution expressed solidarity with Saudi Arabia against Houthi attacks in Yemen. Iran argued that the conflict in Yemen cannot be resolved through military means and must instead be settled through dialogue.
