Court Affirms Abdulghani Arobo as APC Candidate for Owo/Ose

A Federal High Court in Abuja declared Abdulghani Arobo the lawful APC candidate for the Owo/Ose Federal Constituency after he won the May 2026 primary election.

A Federal High Court in Abuja affirmed Abdulghani Arobo as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Owo/Ose Federal Constituency House of Representatives seat in Ondo State for the 2027 general elections. Justice Peter Lifu ruled that Arobo won the party's May 16, 2026, primary election with a total of 10,542 votes, comprising 7,959 votes in Owo Local Government Area and 2,583 votes in Ose Local Government Area.

The judgment overturned a previous nomination by the APC National Working Committee, which had submitted Timehin Adeleye as the candidate. The court found that the party could not ignore the lawful votes cast during the primary and issued a perpetual injunction preventing the defendants from recognizing any other candidate for the constituency.

Justice Lifu ordered both the APC and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to recognize Arobo as the lawful winner. The court further directed INEC to reopen its nomination portal to facilitate the upload of Arobo's name.
