INEC Reports 110 Million Registered Voters Ahead of 2027 Elections
The Independent National Electoral Commission announced Nigeria's voter register has reached 110 million, with Lagos State recording the highest number of registered voters.
The Independent National Electoral Commission announced Tuesday that Nigeria's national register of voters has reached approximately 110 million. Disclosed during a press conference in Abuja, the data serves as a baseline for resource allocation and planning for the 2027 general elections.
Lagos State holds the highest number of registered voters at 7,488,633, followed by Kano and Kaduna. While Event 1 listed Kano at 6,000,570 and Kaduna at 4,000,640, updated figures in Event 2 place Kano at 6,570,276 and Kaduna at 4,662,640. Ekiti State recorded the lowest number of registered voters at 1,055,708. The register consists of 51.75% male and 48.25% female voters, with the 35 to 49 age group forming the largest demographic.
The commission is scheduled to begin the nationwide collection of newly issued Permanent Voter Cards on October 9. The 2027 presidential and National Assembly elections are set for January 16, followed by governorship and State Assembly elections on February 6.
