Anthropic Files for IPO Amid Massive Revenue Growth
Anthropic has filed for an initial public offering with the SEC, reporting rapid revenue growth despite significant net losses.
AI developer Anthropic has officially filed for an initial public offering with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. The company's S-1 filing details rapid expansion, with revenue growing approximately 10x annually over the last three years and a net revenue retention of 900 percent.
Financial disclosures show a net loss of $80.7 billion for the six months ending June 30, 2026, though the company generated $4 billion in operating cash flow during that same window. To maintain operational control and insulate the company from shareholder pressure, the seven co-founders established Founder LLC, which will hold 50.1 percent of voting shares.
The filing includes extensive risk disclosures concerning AI safety, specifically citing potential model misalignment, deceptive behaviors, and existential risks to humanity. In a separate development regarding AI integration, Meredith Whittaker, president of the Signal Foundation, warned that AI agents integrated into operating systems could bypass encryption via screen-capturing, which she claims is the elimination of the possibility to provide privacy.
