Coinbase Reports Third Consecutive Quarterly Loss of $359.5 Million

Coinbase Global reported a second-quarter net loss of $359.5 million amid declining transaction revenue and a volatile cryptocurrency market.

Coinbase Global reported a net loss of $359.5 million, or $1.36 per share, for the second quarter ended June 30. This marks the company's third consecutive quarterly loss and a significant decline from the $1.43 billion profit recorded during the same period last year.

Total revenue fell 19% to $1.22 billion, driven primarily by a 21% drop in transaction revenue to $599 million. The downturn coincided with softer cryptocurrency market conditions as investors avoided riskier assets due to geopolitical tensions and uncertainty regarding United States interest rates.

To mitigate trading slowdowns, the company launched a joint stablecoin in partnership with Visa and Mastercard. CEO Brian Armstrong expressed optimism that the Clarity Act, which aims to establish regulatory guidelines for digital-asset platforms, will move to a full Senate floor vote following the release of revised versions by Senate Republicans.
