Peter Obi Urges National Unity Ahead of 2027 Elections
Peter Obi called on Nigerians to prioritize national unity over ethnic and religious divisions to address economic hardship and insecurity before the 2027 general elections.
Presidential candidate Peter Obi urged Nigerians to prioritize national unity over ethnic and religious divisions during a global digital town hall on Sunday. He argued that economic hardship and insecurity affect all citizens regardless of tribe or faith, noting that "no tribe buys bread at a lower price." Obi called for a president capable of leading from the front to ensure national security and advocated for improved logistics and welfare support for security agencies.
Addressing the upcoming 2027 general elections, Obi emphasized the importance of voter mobilization and the protection of ballots. He instructed supporters to deploy polling agents nationwide and urged voters to remain at polling units until the final counts are completed.
Obi also cautioned citizens against accepting financial inducements or succumbing to intimidation. He asserted that funds used for vote-buying are diverted from essential public services, stating that money accepted from such sources is money that would otherwise have been spent on security, hospitals, and education.
