Thailand Investment Applications Rise 28 Percent in 2026

The Board of Investment reports a 28 percent increase in investment applications, driven by a surge in digital and AI-related infrastructure projects.

The Board of Investment of Thailand reported a 28 percent increase in investment promotion applications during the first nine months of 2026. A total of 1,954 projects applied for privileges, representing a combined investment of 1.71 trillion baht, or approximately 50.59 billion U.S. dollars.

The digital sector led the growth with 139 projects totaling over 1.17 trillion baht, followed by electronics and electrical appliances. Foreign direct investment applications surged 62 percent to 1.55 trillion baht, a trend driven by global supply chain restructuring and increased demand for semiconductors and AI-related infrastructure.

Of the applications received, the agency approved 1,951 projects worth 1.51 trillion baht. These approved ventures are projected to generate annual exports exceeding 1.96 trillion baht and create more than 116,000 jobs. Secretary General Narit Therdsteerasukdi stated that the figures indicate a shift toward advanced technology industries, which provides Thailand an opportunity to expand its role in the AI supply chain.
