BC Partners Seeks Control of Bankrupt LIV Golf
BC Partners is attempting to acquire a $50 million bankruptcy loan to manage LIV Golf's liquidation and potentially launch a successor league.
Private equity firm BC Partners is seeking to gain control of LIV Golf by attempting to acquire a $50 million debtor-in-possession bankruptcy loan from the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia. This financing would allow the London-based firm to manage the Chapter 11 bankruptcy process and potentially establish a successor to the professional golf circuit.
LIV Golf announced its intention to liquidate after the Public Investment Fund decided to end financial backing following the 2026 season, stating the league no longer aligned with its investment strategy. The circuit's collapse followed the loss of necessary funding and the departure of key players.
This is not the first attempt by BC Partners to revive the league. A previous effort to relaunch the circuit with $300 million in financing failed when prominent golfers either declined to commit or made financial demands that the firm found unacceptable.
