UPS Invests $2 Billion to Expand Global Supply Chain
United Parcel Service is investing over $2 billion through 2028 to expand its international, healthcare, and supply chain logistics capabilities.
United Parcel Service is investing more than $2 billion through 2028 to expand its international, healthcare, and supply chain solutions businesses. The strategy focuses on increasing agility and flexibility for customers in complex industries facing macroeconomic pressures and global supply chain disruptions.
The expansion includes a series of global infrastructure projects. UPS is establishing a new hub in the Philippines this year, followed by a facility in Ontario, Canada, in 2027, and an air hub at Hong Kong International Airport by 2028. The company has already launched a tech-enabled logistics center in Taiwan and a supply chain solutions facility in Amsterdam that integrates freight, brokerage, and cold-chain services.
As part of its healthcare initiatives, the company is allocating $48 million to 27 temperature-controlled facilities. These sites are designed to support the shipment of temperature-sensitive medications, including GLP-1 drugs. Scott Szwast, Vice President of International Strategy, stated that the investments are intended to provide tailored capabilities that allow customers to make firm commitments to their own clients.
