Bend Students Protest Gun Violence After School Shooting

Students in Bend, Oregon, held a peaceful, student-led protest on October 26 to demand action against gun violence. The demonstration followed a school shooting at Silver Rail elementary school on October 15.

While participants described the event as peaceful, some community members criticized the Bend Police Department for maintaining an overwhelming and intimidating presence during the protest.

In the wake of the tragedy, local residents are calling for stronger legislative action to protect children in schools and the implementation of increased gun safety measures, including the use of gun locks.
