New Patriotic Party Bans Early Parliamentary Campaigning
The New Patriotic Party ordered all parliamentary aspirants and supporters to stop campaign activities immediately to comply with party regulations and the Code of Conduct.
The New Patriotic Party ordered all prospective parliamentary aspirants, their agents, and supporters to cease all campaign activities on October 11, 2026. General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong issued the directive after reports that some members had begun premature campaigning in various constituencies, an action the party stated violates its regulations and Code of Conduct.
The ban prohibits the use of billboards, posters, rallies, and constituency tours, as well as the distribution of inducements to delegates. The party also banned paid media advertising and specifically forbade party officers and the TESCON student wing from promoting aspirants on social media platforms including Facebook, X, and Instagram.
Party leadership warned that violators face disciplinary action and potential disqualification from the parliamentary selection process. The party has not yet released the official timetable and guidelines for its parliamentary processes but stated they will be announced at a later date.
