Palantir CEO Alex Karp Buys 37,000 Acres of Swedish Forest

Palantir CEO Alex Karp purchased 15,000 hectares of forest in Härjedalen, Sweden, for 235 million kronor, or approximately $22 million. The acquisition was executed through Karp's company, Cladonia Skog AB, from the paper manufacturer Svenska Cellulosa Aktiebolaget.

The transaction has created local friction south of Storsjö Kapell, where hunters were notified that their land leases were terminated. Svenska Cellulosa Aktiebolaget stated that ending these agreements was a natural part of the sales process because hunting rights can only be granted on land the company owns.

Cladonia Skog AB intends to use the property for forestry and related activities. Board member Jenny Lopes Da Silva stated that the new owner is committed to the preservation of the land, noting that the natural landscapes provide valuable habitats for wildlife and serve as areas for recreation and restoration.
