Israeli Forces Conduct Multiple Incursions Into Southern Syria
Israeli military forces carried out several incursions into southern Syria, searching homes and destroying barracks amid ongoing disputes over the 1974 Disengagement Agreement.
The Israeli military conducted a series of incursions into southern Syria on October 11 and 12, 2026, targeting the Quneitra, Daraa, and Damascus provinces. On Sunday, forces carried out eight separate operations involving military vehicles and gunfire. In Quneitra, troops entered the town of al-Hamidiyah to search civilian residences and temporarily detained three shepherds.
Operations continued Monday as six military vehicles advanced south of the town of Al-Rafid in the Quneitra countryside, where troops blocked local residents from digging construction foundations. In a separate action in the western Damascus countryside, Israeli forces destroyed an abandoned military barracks at Tal Harboun near Beit Jinn.
These raids are part of a broader escalation following the fall of Bashar al-Assad's regime in December 2024. The Syrian Network for Human Rights documented at least 453 Israeli ground incursions between December 2024 and October 2026, including advances into the Golan Heights demilitarized buffer zone.
The Government of Syria has demanded an immediate Israeli withdrawal, accusing the military of violating the 1974 Disengagement Agreement. Israel has maintained that its operations are driven by security considerations.
