Dubai International Airport Reports 31.3% Passenger Traffic Decline

Dubai International Airport reported a 31.3% decline in passenger traffic for the first half of 2026, welcoming 31.5 million guests compared to the same period in 2025. The downturn included a 32.1% drop in aircraft movements and a 28.7% decrease in cargo volumes, which officials attributed to regional airspace constraints.

Dubai Airports described the period as one of the toughest operating environments in the hub's history. However, traffic began a steady recovery during the second quarter, increasing from 3.5 million passengers in April to 5 million in June. To support a projected stronger second half of the year, the operator is implementing an investment program focused on operational capacity, guest facilities, and biometric systems.

Analysts suggest that if no further disruptions occur, the airport is on track to finish 2026 with nearly 100 million passengers, which would align with its pre-conflict trajectory.
