Erica Anderson Wins Reelection to Douglas County Commission
Democrat Erica Anderson defeated Libertarian Kirsten Kuhn to secure a second term on the Douglas County Commission District 5 seat.
Erica Anderson won reelection to the Douglas County Commission District 5 seat on Tuesday, defeating Libertarian opponent Kirsten Kuhn. Unofficial results show Anderson received 6,652 votes compared to 1,992 for Kuhn.
This contest marked the second time the two candidates competed for the seat, following a previous race in 2024 during the commission's expansion to five members. Anderson stated that her second term will enable her to build stronger relationships with staff and fellow commissioners while addressing regional issues.
A primary focus for Anderson will be the equitable distribution of county funding. She intends to bridge the gap between Lawrence and other communities, including Baldwin, Eudora, and Lecompton, to ensure spending is directed toward those most in need and supports community stabilization.
