China Deploys Aircraft and Vessels Near Taiwan ADIZ
Taiwan's Ministry of National Defence detected multiple Chinese military aircraft and naval vessels operating around its territory on August 17 and 18.
The Ministry of National Defence of Taiwan detected a series of Chinese military incursions around its territory on August 17 and 18, 2026. On Tuesday, the ministry reported five sorties of People's Liberation Army aircraft, eight People's Liberation Army Navy vessels, and seven official ships operating in the area. Three of those aircraft entered the northern and eastern parts of Taiwan's Air Defence Identification Zone.
This activity followed a similar pattern on Monday, when Taiwan detected one aircraft sortie entering the northern ADIZ, accompanied by nine naval vessels and seven official ships. The Republic of China Armed Forces monitored and responded to both sets of incursions.
These military movements occur as Beijing continues to assert that Taiwan is an inseparable part of China, while Taiwan maintains its own government and military operations.
