Goldman Sachs Advises Clients to Rent AI Market Rebound
Goldman Sachs recommends that clients rent the artificial intelligence market rebound rather than owning it due to extreme volatility exceeding historical financial crises.
The derivatives desk at Goldman Sachs has recommended that clients rent the current artificial intelligence market rebound instead of owning it. This guidance follows a period of extreme volatility in the firm's momentum factor basket throughout 2026.
The firm reported that the basket moved 5% or more in a single session 30 times this year. Goldman Sachs noted that this frequency of volatility exceeds levels seen during the 2000 dot-com bubble, the 2008 financial crisis, and the COVID-19 pandemic.
The recommendation was issued ahead of several high-impact financial events, including scheduled earnings reports from Microsoft and Alphabet, as well as an upcoming interest rate decision from the Federal Reserve.
