Atlanta and Charlotte Airports Prepare for Labor Day Rush

Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport and Charlotte Douglas International Airport are preparing for the Labor Day travel rush beginning September 2. Atlanta expects approximately 2.3 million passengers through September 9, a 1% increase over 2025 levels. The airport anticipates a peak of 335,000 travelers on September 4.
Charlotte Douglas International Airport expects more than 920,000 passengers through September 8, which represents a decrease of about 3% compared to the previous year. Airport officials in Charlotte note that local travelers will account for 36% of their traffic, while the remaining passengers are connecting through the hub.
AAA has ranked Atlanta as the 10th most popular domestic destination for the holiday period.
