The Crazy Bear Luxury Hotels Enter Administration and Close
The Crazy Bear luxury hotel brand has ceased trading and entered administration, resulting in the closure of its Beaconsfield and Stadhampton branches.
The luxury hotel brand The Crazy Bear entered administration on October 27, 2026, leading to the immediate cessation of trading at its Beaconsfield and Stadhampton branches. The collapse resulted in the redundancy of the majority of the company's approximately 130 employees, including staff at the Stadhampton branch who were terminated during a sudden meeting.
Joint administrators from BDO LLP announced that while the freehold properties of both hotels were sold to a third-party purchaser, the hotel operations could not be preserved. The new owner plans to close the premises for refurbishment. Kiri Holland of BDO attributed the failure to challenging market conditions and a quieter than expected summer trading period.
The closures triggered the immediate cancellation of all room bookings, restaurant reservations, spa treatments, and events. Gift vouchers are no longer valid. Customers with deposits in ring-fenced accounts will be contacted for refunds, while others are advised to seek chargebacks through payment providers or submit unsecured claims.
This collapse follows a period of financial instability. The company previously filed for administration in early 2025 before undergoing a management buyout by Richard Booth and Tom Etridge, the latter of whom resigned as a director in late 2025.
