Developer Releases Tool to Remove Apple Intelligence from macOS

omlahore released RemoveMacAI, an open-source command-line tool designed for macOS 27 users to disable Apple Intelligence features and delete associated local AI models. The tool was created to address the removal of a master switch in macOS 27, which previously allowed users to disable AI in a single step. While users can currently toggle individual features manually, the underlying models remain on the disk.
RemoveMacAI installs a configuration profile to restrict AI features and redirects download attempts to a closed local port to prevent the system from automatically redownloading the models. The process disables Siri, Writing Tools, Genmoji, Image Playground, the ChatGPT extension, and various summary and cleanup tools, though Dictation remains functional.
Using the tool restores approximately 12GB of storage space, although some users report AI data occupying over 30GB. The tool is available on GitHub under the MIT license and requires a Mac with Apple silicon.
