General Upendra Dwivedi Calls for Vigilance Along China Border

General Upendra Dwivedi stated that India and China are increasing their presence along the Line of Actual Control, necessitating constant vigilance to maintain border stability.

Chief of Army Staff Upendra Dwivedi stated on January 13, 2026, that the Line of Actual Control (LAC) requires constant vigilance. This necessity stems from a trend where both India and China are gradually increasing their military presence along the border region.

General Dwivedi noted that stability is currently being maintained through a series of diplomatic and military engagements. He specifically cited high-level interactions in Kazan and Tianjin, along with Special Representative (SR) and Working Mechanism for Coordination (WMCC) meetings, as key factors in easing tensions. Additionally, the defense and foreign ministers of both nations have met twice each.

These continuous interactions and open channels of communication have created a conducive environment for resolving minor issues quickly. According to the General, these efforts aim to keep the borders as calm and quiet as possible despite the increased troop presence.
