Chinese State Firm Genertec Eyes $400 Million Kellenberger Deal
China General Technology Group is in discussions to acquire Swiss precision machine maker Kellenberger from U.S. private equity firm Centre Lane Partners for $400 million.
China General Technology Group, a state-owned enterprise known as Genertec, is considering the acquisition of Kellenberger for approximately $400 million. Kellenberger is a Swiss manufacturer specializing in high-precision grinding, milling, and turning machines.
The potential buyer would acquire the company from Centre Lane Partners, a private equity firm based in the United States. Centre Lane Partners took ownership of Kellenberger in 2024 after the bankruptcy of Hardinge Inc. Since then, the firm has pivoted the company's strategy toward the Asian market by establishing a local subsidiary to support precision manufacturing clients.
Discussions between the parties are ongoing, though a final transaction has not been guaranteed.
