AAP and CJP Organize Protests Against Election Commissioner

Aam Aadmi Party and Cockroach Janta Party leaders organized protests across India on October 2 to oppose Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

Leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party and the Cockroach Janta Party organized simultaneous protests on October 2, 2026, targeting Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. In New Delhi, Atishi and Sanjay Singh called for a demonstration at Jantar Mantar to oppose the Election Commission's handling of the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls.

Sanjay Singh alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party and Prime Minister Narendra Modi conspired to delete 1.37 crore names from the rolls to influence election outcomes. Atishi framed the issue as a threat to democracy and the right to vote. Despite the call, Delhi Police denied permission for the event and installed barricades around the site.

In Mumbai, Abhijeet Dipke, founder of the Cockroach Janta Party, announced a Jail Bharo Andolan at Shivaji Park for 4 PM. The shift to a mass arrest strategy followed a denial of permission for a standard protest by Mumbai Police, who cited a 2013 Bombay High Court order designating the park as a silence zone. Dipke threatened to expand the protests nationwide if Kumar does not resign.
