Judge Dismisses Fraud Charges Against Gautam Adani
US District Judge Nicholas Garaufis dismissed conspiracy, securities, and wire fraud charges against Indian billionaire Gautam Adani and his nephew Sagar Adani in Brooklyn.
US District Judge Nicholas Garaufis dismissed conspiracy, securities, and wire fraud charges against Gautam Adani and his nephew Sagar Adani on Monday in Brooklyn, New York. The charges originated in late 2024, with the US government alleging the pair participated in a scheme to pay more than $250 million in bribes to Indian government officials to secure solar energy contracts.
Gautam Adani had consistently denied the allegations. The judicial dismissal follows a request made by US prosecutors in May and a separate settlement reached between Gautam Adani and the United States Securities and Exchange Commission.
