Michigan Democratic Polls Show Harris and Stevens Leading

A new WDIV and Detroit News poll shows Kamala Harris leading for the 2028 presidential nomination and Haley Stevens leading in the Michigan Senate primary.

A joint poll commissioned by WDIV-TV and The Detroit News indicates that Kamala Harris holds a lead among likely Democratic voters in Michigan for a potential 2028 presidential nomination. The survey, conducted by The Glengariff Group between July 8 and July 11, 2026, places Harris at 25.1%, followed by Pete Buttigieg at 19.4% and Alexandria Ocasio Cortez at 11.5%. Other candidates including Gavin Newsom, Cory Booker, and Mark Kelly also appeared in the results.

In the Democratic primary for the Michigan Senate, the same polling shows Representative Haley Stevens leading former Detroit health official Abdul El-Sayed by seven points. Stevens holds 48.2% support compared to 41.4% for El-Sayed, with 10% of respondents undecided. While the race remains nearly even among firm voters, Stevens maintains a stronger advantage among less-committed voters.

These results follow a head-to-head debate where El-Sayed criticized the American Israel Public Affairs Committee for its spending against his campaign and its influence on U.S. Middle East policy. The American Israel Public Affairs Committee has officially endorsed Stevens. Both surveys sampled 500 likely Democratic voters with a margin of error of +/- 4.4%.
