Oman Launches Free 14-Day Visa for Over 100 Countries

The Government of Oman introduced a free 14-day tourist visa for citizens of over 100 countries to boost international tourism.

The Government of Oman has implemented a new visa-free entry policy granting 14-day tourist visas to citizens of more than 100 countries and territories. The initiative, established under Royal Oman Police Decision No. 109/2026 and issued by Inspector General of Police and Customs Hassan bin Mohsin Al Shraiqi, amends the executive regulations of the Foreigners' Residence Law.

To qualify for entry, travelers must present a passport valid for six months, a return ticket, hotel reservations, health insurance, and proof of sufficient funds. Certain citizens may face additional requirements, such as holding residency or a valid visa from the United Kingdom, United States, Canada, Australia, Japan, a Schengen country, or being a GCC resident in an eligible profession.

While the visa is listed under Article 29 of the regulations with a fee of zero Omani rials, reports differ on the possibility of extending the stay. Some sources state the 14-day period cannot be extended or converted, while other reports indicate that travelers may convert the initial free visa into other tourist categories before it expires, provided they meet requirements and pay the associated fees.
