Nationwide Raises Savings Rates and Launches Member Bond
Nationwide Building Society increased interest rates on nine savings accounts and launched a 5.3% member-exclusive bond following a Bank of England rate hike.
Nationwide Building Society increased interest rates across nine savings accounts and ISAs effective December 1, following a decision by the Bank of England to raise the base rate by 0.25 percentage points to 4%. The increases, which reach up to 0.25 percentage points, affect products such as the Junior ISA, Child Trust Fund, and the 1 Year Triple Access Saver and ISA, the latter of which rises from 3.3% to 3.55%.
Alongside these savings benefits, the building society will raise its Standard Mortgage Rate from 6.49% to 6.74% on December 1, with tracker mortgage rates rising in line with the central bank's decision. Virgin Money also announced plans to increase rates on its variable savings accounts by up to 0.25 percentage points starting the same date.
In a separate move to reward member loyalty, the institution launched the Member Exclusive Bond. This fixed-rate account offers 5.3% interest for a 30-month term with deposits between £1 and £10,000. The bond is available to members aged 16 and older who have held a qualifying Nationwide or Virgin Money account since November 2, 2026.
