Vusion Inc. and Qualcomm Unveil AI-Native Store Retail Framework

Vusion Inc. and Qualcomm Technologies released a white paper proposing an AI-native store model using edge computing and BLE to increase retail operating margins.

Vusion Inc. and Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. released a joint white paper on February 25, 2026, titled "The AI-Native Store™: The New Operating System for Physical Commerce." The framework proposes a retail infrastructure that utilizes Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), EdgeSense, and on-device AI to move computing to the edge, processing signals locally from sensors and shopper devices rather than relying on centralized cloud processing.

Vusion Inc. provides the intelligent shelf infrastructure, while Qualcomm Technologies contributes the on-device AI and edge processing capabilities. The companies claim the system can increase operating margins by 1.5 to 2 points by improving on-shelf availability and reducing associate labor by 60 to 90 minutes per shift. The model aims to provide real-time guidance to shoppers and deterministic retail media attribution.

Thierry Gadou, CEO of Vusion Inc., stated that AI-native stores will reshape the economics of physical commerce and mark the next decade of retail transformation. Art Miller, VP and Global Head of Retail at Qualcomm Technologies, described AI at the edge as the driver for the next era of intelligent computing, asserting that retail is one of the industries best positioned to benefit from this shift.
