Michigan Senate Race Intensifies With Accusations of Anti-Americanism

Republican nominee Mike Rogers and Democratic candidate Abdul El-Sayed face escalating rhetoric as critics attack El-Sayed's academic research and healthcare platform.

The U.S. Senate race in Michigan has shifted toward heated rhetoric and accusations of anti-Americanism. Republican nominee Mike Rogers recently held a campaign event in Grosse Pointe Woods featuring Senator Ted Cruz to bolster his candidacy.

Simultaneously, Democratic candidate Abdul El-Sayed has come under fire from critics, including former New York Lieutenant Governor Betsy McCaughey. McCaughey alleges that El-Sayed's past academic research on premature births and suicide rates among Arab Americans in Michigan is "pseudoscience" intended to promote ethnic segregation and the creation of segregated Muslim enclaves.

Beyond his academic work, McCaughey accuses El-Sayed of dishonesty regarding his "Medicare for All" platform. She asserts that his previous writings contradict his current campaign claim that citizens would be able to retain private health insurance.
