China and Laos Conduct Peace Train-2026 Medical Exercise

The Government of China and the Government of Laos conducted the Peace Train-2026 joint humanitarian medical rescue exercise in Vientiane on September 13, 2026. The operation focused on enhancing coordination and medical support capabilities for future mass-casualty emergencies, such as natural disasters.

The exercise featured a full-process drill utilizing search-and-rescue drones, robot dogs, and unmanned transport vehicles to locate and evacuate casualties. These assets integrated with field medical tents for triage and emergency care, while a specialized medical train functioned as a mobile ICU.

This medical train employed a self-developed command and decision-support system powered by artificial intelligence large-model technology to manage the reception and treatment of casualties. The drill practiced the seamless integration of anesthesia, surgery, and intensive care to improve the efficiency of joint medical responses between the two nations.
